This payment used to be called the climate action incentive payment. In February, it was changed into the Canada Carbon Rebate. The payment amounts also went up. It might take up to 10 business days for your payment to come if you filed before March 15th. If you still haven’t got it, please call CRA at that time.

The CCR is a tax-free benefit given every three months to eligible Canadians to help them deal with the financial effects of government pollution pricing. People who were eligible got their most recent Canada Carbon Rebate (formerly known as CAIP) payment on April 15.

As a result of this effort, payment amounts have been raised to help more people, especially those who live in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador. BCCATC is the name of British Columbia’s own carbon tax rebate scheme.

CCR Application Process

  • Residents of Canada: No application is necessary; however, annual income tax filing is required. For households with spouses or common-law partners, the payment is issued to the one who files their taxes first. A supplement is available for residents of small and rural communities, claimable via the income tax return.
  • New Residents of Canada: Must apply by submitting relevant forms to the tax centre, with specific forms for those with and without children.

Canada Carbon Rebate Amounts

Different provinces and family situations get different amounts of money from the CCR. It’s different from other government benefits because the amounts don’t change based on the family’s net income.
